Melting Macadam

The Bay Area made national news recently for the maze fire, maze collapse, the Mighty Maze Meltdown. The San Francisco Chronicle is charting the number of days since the fire and every television newscast includes at least one story about this amazing occurrence. Melting highway pavement deserves national attention.

The one thing that has been absent from the stories is this incredible opportunity to potentially shift transportation patterns. With the raising awareness of global climate change and everyone scrambling to “green” every aspect of their lives, now is the time to put words into action in the form of public transportation. How cool is it to ride across the bay in a ferry? If you have never experienced it then put it on your list of things to do. It really is great fun and sure beats crossing the bridge in a car, anticipating parking problems once you reach your destination.

With so many politicians paying lip service to greenhouse gas emissions and shifting transportation patterns, now is the time to act!
